Groomer Report
Whitehall/Montague Area– Trails
Portions of the West Shore Snowmobile Council Trails will remained closed until January 1, due to hunting season. Some landowners require the additional time for hunting season. Please be patient and DO NOT GO AROUND A CLOSED GATE! If the gates are closed so is your access! Please respect the land owners!
There is an approximately a 5 Mile section of trail 19 between Bridgeton and Muskegon that Wildlife and Forest Resource Division staff have done extensive fill work to improve the trail. A mix of crushed stone and 3-5” bank run material was used and was packed and graded. The rocks on the trail were from this trail improvement work.
Ride with caution, without significant snowfall the rocks can be hazardous and very dangerous.
NOTE: Our trail system is narrow in many areas SO PLEASE stay on your side of the trail and watch for oncoming traffic. Also, our trail system is unique in that most of the trails are on private property. Respect signs & gates so that we don’t lose our riding privileges.
Also, stay on the trails and off of newly planted fruit and evergreen saplings that our landowners rely on for their crops. Several landowners have now closed some of the unofficial trails in Shelby/Hart due to loud pipes and sleds running over the fruit trees.
